370 hrs  Certified Hatha & Yin yoga teacher
Marion van Overveld

At the early age of 10, I discovered a book about yoga on my parents bookshelf and with the opening of this book, my yoga journey started. Doing, reading, feeling, exploring, gathering knowledge and experiencing. A beautiful  journey of 40 years led me from Classical Hatha, Power Yoga, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Sivananda  to Yin Yoga. Sometimes I took a side path where I encountered Acupressure, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Tai Chi, Qi Gong and Reiki that pleasantly distracted me for awhile and created enriching and interesting additions.

Parallel with my Yoga journey goes my physical journey. Originally born in the Netherlands and graduated as a social worker for children, I decided in 1999 to change the grayness of the lowlands for the blue and white of Greece. I lived and worked on Corfu for 13 years, moved to Spain for a little while, back to the Netherlands and since 2014 I work as a representative for touroperator, placing me in Greece, Spain, Portugal or Italy for a season. After visiting Cuba and Indonesia, the year 2019 finally brought me to India, where I did a 200hrs classical Hatha (Sivananda) and 50hrs Yin yoga teacher training. After getting my certificate I started teaching in Greece, Morocco and the Netherlands. I invented the name ‘Solaki Yoga’, based on the nickname my mother gave me when I was a child and my love for Greece and Portugal.

'Solaki' is a self-created mix of different languages and within it my personality completely fits. Recently I found out that it is an existing area in Greece as well, on the Peloponnese (probably interesting to spend my next holiday there).

Although I still love, practice and teach Hatha and Ashtanga, I found out that ‘Yin is my Thing’. The almost meditative silent practice where you just feel your body opening up and the energy flow through the meridians is such an amazing experience that I hope to share with as many people as possible. Be kind to your body, nourish and heal it, listen to it = what Yin is all about. The fascinating connection that Yin yoga has with 'western' anatomy (and Myofascial release techniques) and Chinese Traditional Medicine (Acupressure and Qi Gong) but especially the functional in stead of aesthetical approach so it is accessible for every body, has captured me since the first time I heard Paul Grilley explaining what Yin was all about. I am still learning, still discovering but now ready to share my knowledge, my experience, the amazing energy that you encounter during a silent Yin practice and the effect it has on your body and mind. An individual approach combined with a mix of information about how to stay healthy from a Traditional Chinese Medicine (holistic) approach, with the use of Qi Gong, Acupressure and Myofascial techniques is what characterizes my classes.
